Colour plays a vital role in a memory, when we interpret a memory in our minds we picture it in colour. Those suffering from dementia struggled to relate to imagery which was in black and white but once colourised it became clear and re-lit the memory for them.
When we get older our eyesight can deteriorate, even more with dementia. This solution reads out the narrative of what is on the page the viewer is on. If the memory involves someone else e.g. a son, then the sons voice is used to narrate to help with memory recognition.
When treating dementia, it is best to catch it early. To make awareness of the condition, a campaign has been set up to attract the public to visit a ‘memory bank’. This library of books will highlight the memories people will loose forever due to the condition.
